“The whole difference between construction and creation is exactly this:  that a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists.”

— Charles Dickens

What a perfect day it is to rediscover one of my favorite quotations by Charles Dickens.  Today i stepped off the edge of my imaginary cliff and find myself drifting above the abyss.  Today was the public launch of my poetry collection, a creation that I have loved into existence over many years.  Now it stands before the world, not constructed but created; and I imagine its love touching all who care to read it.

We can enjoy the things we construct; there is no doubt about that.  Our lives work smoothly and allow us the time to become who we are when we construct useful things, like schedules and plans and following through on tasks.  The things we create are not the things of plans, they are the things of dreams.

At this moment of joy and celebration of a dream become real, I want to remember to use the things I construct so that I have time to dream and to create.

May your plans and constructions smooth the way so that you have time to dream.  The world is waiting to see what you will love into existence.
