“Do something wonderful, people may imitate it.”
— Albert Schweitzer
With only two weeks left to prepare for Christmas, I am sure we all have plenty to do. The plans for handmade gifts that seemed so wonderful in September now loom like deadlines at this busy time of year. Although the preparations are less demanding than they were when we had a houseful of kids, I now find that I spend more time creating meaningful gifts. I am beginning to suspect that there is part of me that just likes being a little too busy when Christmas is around the corner. With only one week left before my out-of-town grandsons arrive with their parents, I am suddenly realizing that although Christmas is two weeks away, my deadlines are far sooner. There are gifts to finish, wrapping to do, groceries to buy and guest rooms to prepare. I can only assume that each of you has a similar list.
As I make my daily list (and check it twice), I want to remember to add one more item. ”Do something wonderful.” It is much too easy to let our busyness consume us and distract us from the true spirit of the Christmas season. Remember as Christmas approaches that there is always time, no matter how busy we may be, to do something wonderful. Try to be subtle if you like, but there is a good chance that someone might notice and be inspired. What will you add to your list today that to express the true spirit of Christmas? Let’s check our lists twice and make the world a wonderful place.
