“A loving heart is the truest wisdom”

– Charles Dickens

Yesterday was one of those days — you know the kind — where it seemed that everywhere I turned there was a problem to be dealt with.  There were other people involved in each problem, and the solutions were not easy to discern in the midst of it all.  It is stressful when we find ourselves in the midst of dilemmas where logic tells us that one solution is the correct one and our emotions tell us another thing entirely.  Some answers are black and white, and some show themselves more in shades of gray.

How do we decide what our answer will be to these gray-area problems?  How do we overcome the conflict between logic and emotion?  Our minds are full of wisdom that grows out of the knowledge we gain through making good and bad decisions throughout our lives.  There is no denying that our experiences teach us how to make choices that will have good results.  It is also important to remember that we carry wisdom in our hearts as well as in our heads.  When the gray remains gray and there seems to be no obvious movement toward either black or white, it is then that our heart wisdom must kick in and lead us toward an answer.

When in doubt — the kind that doesn’t diminish with logic — we must use the wisdom that lies in our hearts.  If we err, at least we will err on the side of love; and when we make a risky choice, love is always the best answer.
