“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
— Dr. Seuss
March 2
He gave us the fishes
Of red and of blue
He told us of Horton
Who heard a small Who
And the very good zoo
Of young Gerald McGrew.
He sent us the hat-cat
And Things one and two.
He sent our minds walking
Down Mulberry Street
Said Green Eggs and Ham
Were a wonderful treat
We laughed as we hopped
Of our good buddy, Pop
And balanced ten apples
Way up on top.
From Thidwick and Yertle
To star-belly sneetches
We learned to be kind
In the forests and beaches.
We learned about us
And we learned about them
And we learned, though we’re different,
We still could be friends.
So, thank you, Dear Doctor
For cutting us loose
In a life-long adventure
Through the great mind of Seuss.
So cook up a batch of your
Scrambled Eggs Super
And have a March second
That’s Super-de-Dooper!
(Special, Deluxe, ala Peter D. Hooper)
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Po,
I’m so glad to read that Mr. Hooper penned this poem. I was feeling small thinking about what have added to your already full plate you’ve got time to not only read Dr. Seuss but to write rhymes about him. Especially when it’s all I can do to slog through the day. And here’s the thing, I KNEW you could do it!
Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to know Dr. Seuss, to sit with him at dinner? What a genius!

Actually, Mar…it IS my poem. Peter D. Hooper was the guy who made the “Scrambled Eggs Super-de-dooper-de-booper. It’s naptime at the OK corral. Maybe I’ll go take one myself! Have a swimmingly wonderful day!
