“Forever is composed of nows.”

– Emily Dickinson

Do you want to live forever?  Then start living now!  It is far too easy to fall into a pattern of planning the things that will happen next week or next month or ten years from today.  It is also easy to carry yesterday’s hurts, failures and disappointments and let them preoccupy us to the point where today is lost in the past.  Why should we stay caught in the past when we have a brand new day right now that invites us to participate fully in living?  Why should we delay living today in favor of trying to project what might happen in the future?

Life is a process.  We move from one year to the next, from one day to the next, from one moment to the next.  We get to choose how we will live forever based on the way we choose to live each precious second of our life.  We get to choose what we will carry from one moment to the next; and our unknown future will grow out of the choices we make.  Let’s carry with us only the things that lighten our steps — only the things that are real and a part of who we are.  We are not weighed down by the things that belong to us — only by those that are temporary and not worth carrying forward.

Feed your soul today.  Live forever in each passing moment.  Bring with you the things that last — love, truth, courage and light — and create moments that make you long to live forever.  Forever is composed of nows.
