Plant Intention

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.”
– Robert Louis Stevenson
It has now been a month since the fires of Samhain burned away the last of the harvest and marked the end of the summer’s bounty. Seeds have fallen to the ground, carrying with them the promise of Spring to come. We have watched the leaves dance on Autumn’s breezes and finally find their way to the earth below. Now, with no bright colors left to draw our eyes toward the outside world, we prepare for winter. The empty clattering branches of trees shivering in the cold wind send a shiver through us as well. Like the earth, under its blanket of leaves, we pull the year’s memories around us like a cloak and find a warm and comfortable place to spend the still days ahead.
The plants have dropped their seeds; and now it is time to plant our own seeds of intention deep inside our hearts. As the earth will hold and warm the seed until Spring’s warmth calls it to life; we will carry our potential deep within the womb of our souls, until our intention joins our dreams and brings them to life. We have reaped the harvest of another year of living. We have received the gifts of life in countless ways. Let us follow the example of the universe and embrace the season of potential. Let us grown within ourselves a gift we can offer to the world. Let us measure our days by the seeds we plant. Let us marvel at the abundant gifts we receive each day. Let us know that we have something to add to the bounty.
