Butterfly

Does the butterfly

Remember

Crawling on his

Hundred legs and

Seeing but a single leaf

That he devours

Before he goes

To sleep?

Does the caterpillar

Know

As he spins the silk

That grabs the leaf

That soon will hold

His world, suspended

That he will emerge

Transformed?

We crawl until we

Spin

Our dreams of

Lovely wings

And graceful feet,

Emerging from

Our chrysalis

To fly

Does the butterfly

Remember,

Or does he simply

Sip the nectar

Of a thousand

Different flowers

And soar to

Endless sky?
