“Love is the only reality and it is not a mere sentiment.  It is the ultimate truth that lies at the heart of creation.”

– Ranindranath Tagore

Creation

The Light shone.

And the darkness rejoiced

Finding itself in a sparkling state

Fearfully, wonderfully, awesomely made

And the darkness shined, too

And it danced.

The Light shone.

And the Earth rejoiced

Exploding with Fire and with rumbling thunder

Land and sea sprang from the sun and the rain

And existence began

And it danced.

The Light shone.

And the seeds planted deep

Found themselves reaching and seeking the sun

Sprouting and growing and bringing forth fruit

And the world became green

And it danced.

The Light shone.

And the beasts walked the earth

Gentle and fierce and of infinite kind

Beautiful, colorful, roaring and singing

Each owned his place

And they danced.

The Light shone.

And it longed for a place

Where its own light could dwell when it visited Earth

And the Light shined two souls, and set them in place

Woman and Man

And they danced.

The Light shone.

And the darkness still lingered

The Light dwelt in man but it couldn’t be seen

And the man loved the darkness and hid from the Light

Sad and alone

And he cried.

The Light shines.

And our legacy lives

As surrounded by darkness we reach for the Light

No longer certain what dwells in our beings

With faltering steps

We must dance.
