Gratitude

It’s all a matter of perspective, you know.
As I walked out the door to drum class last night, I felt an icy mist peppering my face. ’Great.’ I thought, ‘just what I need.’ I scurried to the car, wrapping my arms around my drum and hoping to keep it dry. When will this rain end? Don’t we have enough mud on Earth now? How about a little sunshine and some clear, starry nights.
This morning I awoke to the rhythm of rain on my window. I pulled the covers closer and tried to disappear into my pillow, but the tap-tap-tap kept me awake; so I finally gave in and decided to face the cold, rainy morning. As the sun began to light the day, I looked outside to see something amazing. Everything sparkled. Everything gleamed. The gray-black snow piles at the side of our street were nearly gone; and clear, shimmering water danced down the gutter and disappeared into the drain at the end of the block.
The kiwi vine sparkled with water droplets than hung from branches that only a week ago were covered with snow.
The lilac buds shone proudly, reminding me to pay attention to the renewal that lies just around the corner.
Isn’t it wonderful how a closer look or a different slant can make all the difference in the world on a rainy morning?
I looked toward the curb in front of the house, and started to laugh. ”Mark!” I called upstairs to my sweetheart, “the universe is offering free car washes today!”
And I felt grateful for the rain.
It really is all a matter of perspective, you know.

Beautiful Sharing…I love the pictures…and just a hint for your drum…I bought a cheap, but totally awesome cloth bag for my drum and have her wrapped up in a fuschia colored cotton scarf to protect her. It is just for my drum and beater and I can then take her along whenever I need to without worries…
Have a Superb Day Pam!
Brightest of Blessings!

Thanks, Akasa! I actually SEWED a bag for my djembe, but it’s not waterproof…I still overprotect her.
A beautiful day to you, too!
