This is the view that greeted me this morning when I looked out my front door; and the weather service tells us that this is only the beginning.  Snow!  Beautiful, white, glistening, wonderful snow!  It makes the whole world look fresh and white.  It also obscures the details of buildings, trees, cars, and plants until it’s hard to tell where one thing ends and the next begins.  School is cancelled.  It’s a tele-commuting day for workers.  Only an occasional car crawls past on the street — our only reliable visitor is the snow plow that falls short in clearing the roads.  Today is a day for slowing down.  Each of us will leave our busy life outside our doors and come together as a family, our mutual goal being to clear a path to the outside world.  Until that task is done, let’s all enjoy the chance to be snowbound, enjoy the company of our family, and realize how few things in our lives are as important as what we find together on a snowy day at home.
