It’s Friday morning in PA, and the only news that seems worth repeating today is the impending winter storm. Depending upon who I listen to, we are anticipating 8, 12, or an unknown number of inches of snow sometime between now and Saturday evening. The calm before the storm has the air buzzing with energy this morning! It has me wondering just who decided to call this sort of time, “calm.” I’m thinking that a better word might be “potential.” Just as electricity resides in the wires and waits for a switch to be activated so it can show its power, the energy of the impending storm hovers in the air today, just waiting for the right combination of atmospheric events to release its potential. If you are in a place where the storm is brewing, or if you think about it on another day like this one, take a couple of minutes to just stand outside and feel the air humming. There’s nothing like a good storm to remind us that there are things in this world far bigger than we are. And there is potential within each of us that is far greater than the actions we choose to perform each day. What does the “calm” feel like inside of you? What will the storm be that you unleash on your world today?
